Get the music right and everything else will follow…
Thanks guys, that you’re taking some time for
this interview. I hope you had a good day so far.2015 was a great year for you. You’ve released the first tracks online and now you’re on the way to your first headline tour in the UK.
How does it feel to reach a lot of people all over the world now?
It’s a great feeling knowing that the music we are writing is reaching so many people. When we first started writing songs we really liked them and we hoped other people would too but we never thought that it would escaclate as quickly as it has.
Speaking about the upcoming tour, what do you hope and expect for it?
We hope that people who come to see us will enjoy the show and be excited to see us, and come back again.
Which countries would you like to see next, if possible?
It would be great to see anywhere because it’s something we really want to do but like most bands a big one that we’d like to visit is America.
Is there an album we all can be excited for? And when do you plan to release it?
The writing is going well and there will be an album at some point but it’s still early days. We’re excited about a lot of the songs we’re making at the minute.
I’m always interested in the creative part of music. How do you compose your songs? Do you jam together till it sounds good or is there a creative brain which has all the melodies in mind?
Andy usually comes up with an idea and he brings it to the rest of us and then we all piece it together and create a song.
What about your lyrics? Is everyone of you involved or are they autobiographic stuff of a single one?
Andy and James come up with the majority of the lyrics.
It might be a long way to fame, so are there idols or preferred artists you’d like to work with / support on their tour?
Yeah there are lots of artists that we’re huge fans of and it would be great to work with. Some of the artists that stand out to us and that we’d like to support are; Kings of Leon, The Maccabees, The Last Shadow Puppets, Arctic Monkeys, Jake Bugg, The Black Keys and more.
You’re quite young at age, what makes it even more impressive you already have such a proper sound. Do you already have experience in making music or is it something you’ve just discovered?
We’ve all had experience in previous bands but when we started this band it felt right and it seemed to work better than it had in previous projects.
What, in your eyes, is the most important to do or don’t in music business for staying grounded and be able to enjoy it for a long time without stumbling?
Get the music right and everything else will follow, and remember why we started the band in the first place.
It was a good decision to put up your music on Spotify and iTunes, because they suggest it to people according to their taste, as Spotify did to me. But you also uploaded it on Soundcloud, where it’s free. Was it a marketing strategy or do you think that music should be available for everyone?
We want people to come to our gigs and having our songs on as many platforms as possible allows people to hear us and gains us interest.
Goals are important to make a step further. What are your personal goals for 2016?
To continue writing songs that we’re really happy with and focus on building up as big a fan base as possible.
You’ve already played some small festivals in the UK. If you could choose: which festivals would you like to play within the next years (worldwide)?
In the UK it would be amazing to play T in the Park and Glastonbury. We all went to T in the Park last year and loved it. In terms of worldwide festivals it would be great to play; Coachella, Bonaroo, Rock Am Ring, Benicassim, Ibiza Rocks, Lollapalooza and many more.
I can imagine it might has been weird to watch the first music video of yourself as it was to read the first interview. Is it still awkward or already fun?
Yeah it’s a little strange at first but once you’ve done it a few times it becomes fun.
